Please welcome Counseling Intern, Janathan Grace. Janathan specializes in relationship issues as well as spiritual and emotional struggles, depression, sexual addiction, and issues specific to men. He and his wife of twelve years chose “Grace” as their last name to signify their core commitment in life.

My approach is eclectic, drawing from what I feel is best in each theory and using what seems best for each client. I take very seriously the concerns you bring for us to consider together and also believe it is important to try to understand the underlying causes. My goal is to be fully accepting of you and honoring of all you bring. Although I bring some psychotherapeutic expertise and fresh eyes to our encounter, with a welcoming spirit, you, the client, are the expert on yourself and the final authority on what happens as a result of our engagement. For that reason, the work we do is collaborative.

For good work to be done, we need each other to be fully and honestly engaged as we work together to discover your internal tensions, fears, avoidances, and all that diminishes who you are. I believe healing comes on the one hand through recognizing and becoming free of those habits of action and thought (conscious and unconscious) that limit and harm you, and on the other hand, discovering and fostering your true and unique beauty that has been disfigured and suppressed. This honest self-appraisal may stimulate pain and anxiety and therefore requires courage and commitment rooted in self-compassion as well as support from others. Your vulnerability may find expression in intensified emotions in our times together, and this is welcomed and valued.
